Two paths inside the library of the bishop of Capodistria Baldassare Bonifacio (Crema 1585-Capodistria 1659), preserved in the Fondo Concordiano of the Library of the Accademia dei Concordi of Rovigo, allow you to trace: 1) works of a scholarly character that a man of culture could not but possess: editions of the classics of antiquity, medieval treatises disclosed with the press, anatomical descriptions, lexicons of medicine, books of secrets, manuals and dictionaries of chemistry, mineralogy, botany; 2) works necessary for everyday life (hygiene advices, diet, defense against individual diseases and epidemics) also useful for dealing with doctors and applying the prescriptions. During his deadly illness the bishop will find comfort in the texts of philosophy and natural theology.
