L’autore intende compiere un rapido excursus storico ed antropologico sulle consuetudini e pratiche igienico-estetiche messe in atto nel corso dei secoli dalle varie civiltà umane. Verranno perciò tratteggiate le usanze di alcune società cosiddette “primitive” per poi passare ad illustrare il comportamento delle società più “evolute” per quanto riguarda la cura del corpo ed il concetto di bellezza, sottolineando la frequente correlazione tra esigenze sanitarie ed ideali estetici.In sostanza la relazione si propone di evidenziare come l’attenzione per la pulizia e l’igiene del corpo, come anche la ricerca della bellezza, sono culturalmente determinate o almeno socialmente condizionate.
The author intends to make a quick historical and anthropological excursus on the hygienic-aesthetic habits and practices implemented over the centuries by the various human civilizations. We will therefore outline the customs of some so-called “primitive” societies and then move on to illustrate the behavior of the more “evolved” societies with regard to body care and the concept of beauty, underlining the frequent correlation between health needs and aesthetic ideals. In essence, the report aims to highlight how the attention to cleanliness and hygiene of the body, as well as the pursuit of beauty, are culturally determined or at least socially conditioned.
