L’8 ottobre 1440 Giovanni Tavelli da Tossignano ottenne il consenso alla costruzione di un ospedale degno di una grande corte come quella Estense. È cosa risaputa e comprovata da tutte le memorie storiche, anche più antiche, che una “Spezieria” fosse stata istituita nell’ospedale fin dai primordi. Locali adeguati all’importanza della spezieria in quanto corredati di importanti arredi impreziositi da pregevoli opere d’arte (Dosso Dossi e Girolamo da Carpi). Ecco i risultati di una ricerca svolta in Archivi e Biblioteche di Stato e Comunali di Ferrara riguardante documenti inediti in un arco temporale che va dal XV ai primi decenni del XX secolo.
On the 8th October 1440 Giovanni Tavelli da Tossignano obtained consent to build a hospital worthy of a great court like the one of the Estense. It is well known and proven by all historical memories, even the most ancient, that a “Spezieria” was established in the hospital from the very beginning. Rooms suited to the importance of the apothecary as they were very well equipped with important furnishings embellished with valuable works of art (Dosso Dossi and Girolamo da Carpi). Here are the results of a search in the State and Municipal Archives and Libraries of Ferrara for unpublished documents in a time span ranging from the 15th to the first decades of the 20th century.
